Rapeseeds are planted in Europe to produce rapeseed oil for bio-diesel. In America corn is planted to produce ethernoel and soybean are panted to produce bio-diesel. Sugar cane is planted in Brazil to produce alcohol to drive their cars. In Malaysia, coconut oil are used to produce bio-diesel. The problem of farmland produce oil for bio-diesel is cost. In order for the bio-diesel plant to make money the cost of crude oil must be above $50 a barrel, under $50 a barrel, it does not make economic sense. Provided that the price of soybean, rapeseed oil stay the same.
